2. Payment Plan

The $200.00 application fee is due with the application/enrollment process. Of the $4,000.00 tuition, 50% ($2,000.00) is due when the student signs this Enrollment Agreement. The remaining 50% ($2,000.00) is due 14 calendar days before the first day of class. The payment schedule does not change the total program cost or the refund rights described below.

3. Cancellation & Refund Policy

This refund policy is intended to comply with North Carolina General Statutes ยง115D-90 and 2A SBCCC 400.12. If the student withdraws before the first day of class, is caused to withdraw by TASA, or TASA cancels the class, the student receives a 100% refund of all tuition, fees, and other program charges paid, including the $200.00 application fee. After class begins and through 25% of the 120-clock-hour program, the minimum refund is 75% of paid tuition and charges eligible for refund under applicable North Carolina law and this Agreement. No provision of this Agreement limits a refund required by applicable law.

  1. Withdrawal Before Class Begins: A student who withdraws before the first day of class is entitled to a full refund of 100% of all tuition, fees, and other program charges paid, including the $200.00 application fee.
  2. Withdrawal After Class Begins โ€” On or Before 25% of Program Hours: A student who withdraws after the first day and on or before completing 25% of the 120-clock-hour program is entitled to a refund of at least 75% of paid tuition and charges eligible for refund under applicable North Carolina law.
  3. Withdrawal After 25% of Program Hours: Refunds after the first 25% of the program are calculated according to the signed Enrollment Agreement, this catalog, and applicable North Carolina law.
  4. School-Initiated Cancellation: If TASA cancels a scheduled program, students will receive a full refund of all tuition, fees, and other program charges paid, including the $200.00 application fee, within 30 days.
  5. Refund Processing: All refunds will be processed within 30 days of the date TASA receives written cancellation or withdrawal notification.

4. Student Right to Cancel

The student has the right to cancel this agreement at any time. Cancellation must be submitted in writing (email to chris@tasaedge.com or joy@tasaedge.com, or physical mail to the school address). The effective date of cancellation is the date the written notice is received by TASA.

A student may also cancel by not attending classes and notifying the school verbally or in writing; however, written notice is recommended to establish a clear cancellation date for refund calculations. TASA will provide the refund policy before the student pays tuition and will process any refund due within 30 calendar days of the effective withdrawal, dismissal, or cancellation date.

5. Attendance Policy

Students may miss only one class total during a session. A doctor's note is necessary for an illness-related excusal. An absence for an extenuating circumstance requires staff approval. A second missed class may result in dismissal or required re-enrollment in a later session. Tardiness of more than 15 minutes will be recorded as a half-day absence.

6. Academic Standards

Students must achieve a minimum grade of 70% on written assessments and demonstrate competency in all hands-on skill evaluations to receive a certificate of completion. Students who do not meet minimum requirements may be offered additional training at no cost, subject to availability.

7. Conduct & Dismissal

TASA reserves the right to dismiss any student for: (a) failure to meet financial obligations; (b) academic failure after remediation has been offered; (c) violation of school safety rules; (d) dishonesty, theft, or destruction of school property; (e) disruptive behavior that interferes with the learning environment. In the event of dismissal, the refund policy above applies based on the last date of attendance.

8. Certificates & Credentials

Upon successful completion, students receive: (a) Certificate of Completion from TASA; (b) Preparation for the NASTEC (National Appliance Service Technician Certification) exam; (c) EPA 608 preparatory training for refrigerant handling certification.

9. Non-Accreditation Disclosure

IMPORTANT: Thompson Appliance Service Academy is licensed by the North Carolina State Board of Proprietary Schools. TASA is not accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency. Credits earned at TASA may not be accepted by or transferable to other educational institutions.

10. Complaint Procedure

Students with complaints should first attempt to resolve the matter with TASA administration. If unresolved, students may file a complaint with the NC State Board of Proprietary Schools, 5001 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699-5001. 11. Acknowledgment

By signing below, I acknowledge that:

  1. I have received, read, and understand this Enrollment Agreement.
  2. I understand the tuition, fees, and payment schedule described above.
  3. I understand the cancellation and refund policy and my right to cancel.
  4. I understand that TASA is a proprietary school licensed by the State of North Carolina.
  5. I understand that TASA is not accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency.
  6. I have received a copy of the TASA School Catalog.
  7. I understand the attendance and academic requirements.
  8. All information I have provided is true and accurate.
The student shall receive a signed copy of this agreement. TASA retains the original.
